Republican Gendarmerie
The Republican Gendarmerie guards the Qara-Chik line and the frontier crossings, patrols the highways, protects state installations and senior officials, and keeps order where the city police and the district detachments call for it. It answers to the Ministry of Internal Security.
Photographing checkpoints, convoys and protected installations is prohibited. Instructions given by a gendarme at a checkpoint must be followed at once.
