Roads
The Highway Patrol Corps enforces the traffic and customs rules on the Fergana Mountain Transit Highway (State Route 1) and on the roads to the northern crossings.
Otmek tunnel: dangerous goods
Fuel, explosives, gas and chemicals may pass through the tunnel only between 22:00 and 05:00. Outside those hours tankers wait at the Otmek valley post or take the old pass road in summer.

Winter
From 1 November to 31 March vehicles crossing the Fergana Gateway must carry chains or winter tyres. The pass may be closed without notice in snow; follow the forecasts of Irad Gidromet. The Fergana Gateway is closed by snow on about 20 days in an average winter.

Worked out from the observations of Irad Gidromet at Talas. A closure is announced only by the Highway Patrol Corps.
Fines
Traffic fines may be paid at Talasbank or through e-Irad. A fine not paid within 30 days is doubled.
