From 1 November to 31 March every vehicle passing the Fergana Gateway post must carry chains or have winter tyres. Vehicles without them are turned back. See roads.
Owners of fuel tankers must re-register them by 30 November 2026. Unregistered tankers will not be allowed through the checkpoints, and fines are doubled after 30 days.

The winter equipment rule applies from 1 November 2025 to 31 March 2026. Last winter the Highway Patrol turned back 2,316 vehicles at the Fergana Gateway post.

Photographing or filming checkpoints, convoys and protected installations is prohibited. Cameras and telephones used to do so are held and the images deleted in the presence of the owner.

In the first half of 2019 the checkpoints of the Border Demarcation Brigade tested 3,912 drivers and found 214 under the influence of drugs. Drug tests have been carried out at the checkpoints since 2008.
